iDisplay Extends Windows And Mac PC Display Screen On iPhone/iPad

Apple’s iPad is so popular now as a great companion tablet PC or even being used as home centralized control system or merely as an expensive Digital Photo frame. With its relatively large screen size, have you ever wonder how you can use it as an extended secondary display? Now with the help of apps named as iDisplay, users can easily transform the famous iPad into external display via WiFi connection.
For the start, there are two apps that need to be installed on both your laptop and iPad. And since Apple iPhone doesn’t come with standard Ethernet port, users will have to establish the link between both through WiFi, so that the desktop screen can be shared just like having additional secondary screen in extended mode. Once installed and launched the program at both ends (with WiFi connection turned ON), a message with available lists of computers will be prompted. Tap on the respective PC name will connect both with extended display ready to be used. Since iPad is capacitive touch based and so there is a bit tricky to use it as your mouse cursor on the secondary display (iPad screen) will not be displayed correctly. Some simple tips here: Just tap on your iPad screen with two fingers will show keyboard and application menu. Besides, users can drag with two fingers to pan, pinch to zoom, or tap and hold to simulate right click and etc.

Tested on a jailbroken iPad 16GB WiFi version and it works great without significant lagging when sharing the screen. But for first time users, you will have to spend few minutes familiarizing with virtual screen position as well as its control function but once you get used to it, it is no doubt an effective tool as extended view for both your Windows and Mac PCs. Specifically designed to run on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, iDisplay (costs $4.99 at iTune) is compatible with Mac OS X and Windows XP 32-bit (Windows Vista and 7 is on the way) and users can get free installer download at ShapeServices for more effective work.

Replace AA and AAA Batteries With Vibration-Powered Electricity Generator

Tired of replacing the batteries on your remote especially since you have been glued to the TV a lot during the 2010 World Cup? If the batteries on your remote control run flat, just give it a good shake and hey, presto, you should be able to change the channels! Provided that you have vibration-powered electricity generator inserted into the remote control. Japan’s Brother Industries Ltd. has produced an innovative energy harvesting device based on vibration that can replace AA and AAA batteries.
Shaped like a battery on the outside, the energy harvester is equipped with an electromagnetic induction generator and a 500-mF capacitor for storage. It generates about 100-mW of power which is suitable for small devices; the remote control, for instance, only needs between 40-mW and 100-mW of power to operate. The output of the AA-size generator is 10 to 180-mW, providing power at 1.6- and 3.2-volts, while an AAA unit that generates 2.7-V has also been produced. There is no need to keep replacing AA and AAA batteries with this environmentally-friendly kinesthetic or vibration electricity generator.

New Xbox 360 Black

Live pictures of the new Xbox 360 and the Kinect (ouch!) are up at Engadget, and as you can see the new Xbox 360 black unit is a lot smaller than the original Xbox 360. Not only have that, but they even squeezed in the power supply into the chassis, which means all the twinkie parts have shrink a lot. The new blackbox360 is very sleek, with glossy black finishes. Somehow it looked better than the old ones.

The new blackbox360 is already available at Amazon, Newegg, and GameStop for $299. Kinect will be shipping at $149 for standalone unit on 4th November. With the new Xbox360 coming, the old arcade has been given a slash in price too, by $50.

The new black and sexy chassis seemed to have a lot of air vent, which shows that Microsoft has been keen in improving the air ventilation over the old unit, hopefully eliminating the RRoD issue. Let’s check out the new features of the blackbox.
Form Factor: Sleek, lean and gloss black finish with chrome accents. Place vertically or horizontally in any living room entertainment center.
Touch Sensitive Buttons: Turn the Xbox 360 video game system on/off and eject a disc with the swipe of a finger.
Whisper Quiet: Whether you’re playing a DVD disc or from the hard drive, or navigating the dashboard, with the all-new and much quieter Xbox 360, the only noise you’ll hear is your own laughing, cheering and playing.
Wi-Fi: Built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi for fast, easy connection to your friends and entertainment on Xbox LIVE.
Hard Drive: 250GB internal, swappable hard drive for even more storage. To access, remove the bottom panel by pushing the small tab toward the front of the console.
Kinect-Ready: Custom Kinect port on the back of the console that directly hooks up to the Kinect sensor for controller-free fun.
USB Slots: Five USB ports; three in the back of the console and two in the front for easy plug and play.
AV Connections:
AV Cable included for standard definition TV connection.
HDMI port for high definition TV connection.
Optical Audio: out port integrated on back of console for AV system connection.
Power Supply: Smaller and more efficient. Xbox 360 250GB and Xbox 360 Original power supplies are not interchangeable.
Wireless Controller: The award-winning Xbox 360 Wireless Controller matches the console in all black with color-matched thumbsticks and directional pad with a touch of gloss and chrome to complete the look.
Backwards Compatible: Your favorite accessories and games will work with Xbox 360 250GB. (Xbox 360 External Hard Drives and Memory Units are not compatible.)
Accessories: Customize your Xbox 360 250GB with matching black accessories, including favorites such as Controllers, Wireless Headset, Chatpad, Quick Charge and Play & Charge Kits and more. Get a look at a few of these today.

Key Internal Components Changes:
Fan: Moved from two small fans to one larger fan for improved acoustics.
Chipset: 45 nanometer and integrated CPU and GPU.
Wi-Fi: Integrated wireless capability.

Microsoft stated that the Kinect will work with every Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 Origin owners will have to connect a USB and separate power cord for the Kinect unit. The new black Xbox 360 has a special ExtUSB-ish port marked with “Aux”, a special Kinect port that handles both data and power for the new motion control system, eliminating the need for 2 cables to power up the Kinect system.

Watch Your iPhone Movies on Big Screen With ReflexDock Pro

The iPhone has always been a very fun phone to play with. But the only let down would be the small screen. I’m not sure how many people that love watching movies in a small screen, but I sure ain’t one of them. I still prefer to watch movies in front of my big tee vee on my comfy sofa. Now Konnet has given us a real nice accessory for our iPhone.

The ReflexDock Pro is a sleek looking cradle that connects your iPhone or iPod to your LCD TV using an AV cable, allowing you to play any video on them. There’s also a USB cable, which means you can charge your iPod/iPhone while watching your movie, saving your battery’s juice. This seemed to be a great device in conjunction with the ‘coming soon’ Netflix apps later this year. Streaming videos from your iPhone to your TV you say?
The ReflexDock Pro comes in both black and white color. The Pro also comes with an audio-out jack and a 3.5mm stereo cable, allowing for the connection of external sound equipment. SRP is set at $50, and is already available at Amazon.com.
Compatibility:
  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 3Gs
  • iPhone 3G
  • iPhone 2G
  • iPod Touch 2nd gen
  • iPod Touch
  • iPod Nano 5th gen
  • iPod Nano 4th gen
  • iPod Nano 3rd gen
  • iPod Classic

Mi Sports - Waterproof Headphones

This new headphone is called Mi-Sports, but it’s not related to the Wii-Sports in any single way. Yet it is not your typical headphone either. This headphone is waterproof! Now who’d like to join me for a jog in the lake?

The Mi-Sport is a headphone with integrated mp3 player. 4GB of memory built-in, this player supports MP3s, WMAs, and AAC files, along with 7-hours of singing time. 7 hours should be enough for your snorkeling activities. The Mi-Sport is waterproof, not splash-proof or water-resistant. Now why would I say that you could use this while snorkeling, is because it comes along with a pair of water-blocking sponge earplugs which allows you to listen to your Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber while swimming with Nemo. There’s also voice navigation like the iPod Shuffle which reads out the name and track of the songs as there’s no screen. There’s a Bluetooth version of this headphone too.
Now that really stuns me, as why do you need waterproof headphones anyway? The only few peoples that I can think of buying this would be those swimming athletes and gymnasts, as well as some snorkeling trainers. Suddenly I have the urge to get this and do break dance in the water with Nemo, though that’s quite impossible for now. This thing is still not available in the market.
